How do I turn on push notifications for the Clean Smarts app?

Allow Clean Smarts to send push notifications, register your signed-in account with the phone, and troubleshoot alerts that are missing, silent, or delayed.

Clean Smarts can send push notifications for messages, issues, supply requests, reminders, and other events that apply to your account. You must allow notifications in your phone's settings and be signed in to Clean Smarts on that phone.

Applies to: Clean Smarts mobile app users on iPhone or Android. Push, email, and SMS/text are separate delivery methods; turning on push does not turn on email or SMS.

Before You Start

  • Connect your phone to Wi-Fi or cellular data.
  • Open Clean Smarts and sign in with your own account. The app registers the phone for the user who signs in.
  • When Clean Smarts asks for permission to send notifications, choose Allow.

Clean Smarts asks for notification permission automatically. There is no push-notification switch inside the app. If you previously denied the request, turn notifications on in the phone's settings.

Turn On Notifications on iPhone

  1. Open the iPhone Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps > Clean Smarts > Notifications. - On some iOS versions, use Settings > Notifications > Clean Smarts instead.
  3. Turn on Allow Notifications.
  4. Select Lock Screen, Notification Center, and Banners based on where you want alerts to appear.
  5. Turn on Sounds if you want an audible alert.
  6. Reopen Clean Smarts and confirm that you are signed in.

If notifications are allowed but arrive quietly or late, check whether a Focus mode or Scheduled Summary is silencing or delaying Clean Smarts.

Turn On Notifications on Android

Android labels vary by phone manufacturer and version.

  1. Open your phone's Settings app.
  2. Tap Notifications > App notifications > Clean Smarts. - If that path is not available, use Settings > Apps > Clean Smarts > Notifications.
  3. Turn on All Clean Smarts notifications or the main notification switch.
  4. If notification categories appear, turn on the categories you need and choose Alerting instead of Silent when you want sound or a pop-up.
  5. Allow notifications on the lock screen if you need to see alerts while the phone is locked.
  6. Reopen Clean Smarts and confirm that you are signed in.

On Android 13 and newer, Clean Smarts must receive notification permission before it can show alerts. Older Android versions may enable notifications by default, but you can still turn them off in app settings.

Make Sure the Phone Is Registered

After you sign in, Clean Smarts registers the phone for push notifications and updates the registration if the phone's push token changes. The app does not currently show a registration status.

If you allowed notifications but still receive nothing:

  1. Force-close and reopen Clean Smarts while connected to the internet.
  2. Confirm that you are signed in with the account that should receive the alert.
  3. Log out and log back in if the phone was restored, the operating system was updated, or a different Clean Smarts user recently used the phone.
  4. Ask your administrator to trigger a known event for your user, or send a test notification if that option is available in your company's setup.

On a shared phone, signing in as another user can move that phone's push registration to the new user. Each person should normally use their own account on their own device.

Confirm the Alert Is Set Up

Phone permission only allows Clean Smarts to display a push. It does not decide which events should notify you.

If some notification types arrive and others do not, ask your Clean Smarts administrator to verify:

  • Your user is a recipient for that event.
  • Push is enabled for the relevant notification type in your user setup.
  • The event itself is configured. For example, shift reminders and no-show alerts have their own timing and recipient settings.
  • Your role and location access allow you to receive or open the related message, issue, request, or reminder.

Email and SMS can succeed or fail independently of push, so test each delivery method separately.

Troubleshooting

  • The permission prompt does not appear. The phone may have already recorded your choice. Use the iPhone or Android settings above instead of waiting for another prompt.
  • Clean Smarts is missing from the phone's notification list. Open the app once and then check again. If it is still missing, update Clean Smarts and restart the phone.
  • Notifications are allowed, but nothing arrives. Check your internet connection, confirm the correct Clean Smarts user is signed in, reopen the app, and have an administrator verify that the event was sent to your user.
  • Alerts arrive without sound or a banner. On iPhone, check Sounds, banner placement, Focus, and Scheduled Summary. On Android, choose Alerting, check Do Not Disturb, and review lock-screen settings.
  • Android alerts are delayed. Battery Saver or manufacturer battery controls can delay background delivery. Allow Clean Smarts to run in the background or set its battery use to Unrestricted while testing.
  • Notifications stopped after an update or phone restore. Reopen Clean Smarts, log out and back in, and test again so the current device registration is sent.
  • Only one person has the problem. Compare that person's phone permission, signed-in account, and Clean Smarts notification setup with a user who receives the same alert.
  • Nothing else works. Update the app and restart the phone first. Reinstall only as a last step, then allow notifications and sign in again.

The HOME screen's Notifications card opens an Alerts history. It is not a push-permission setting, and not every message or issue push is stored there. Tapping some push notifications opens the related message, issue, supply request, or link instead.
