How do I screen record or take screenshots?

If you need to screen record or take screenshots to share information with Clean Smarts support, this guide will walk you through the steps on both Apple and Android devices.

For Apple Devices (iPhone and iPad)

How to Take a Screenshot

  1. Locate the buttons on your device:
    • For iPhones with a Home button: Press the Home button and the Side (or Top) button at the same time.
    • For iPhones without a Home button: Press the Side button and the Volume Up button at the same time.
  2. You’ll see the screen flash, and a small preview of the screenshot will appear in the corner.
  3. Tap the preview to edit or share the screenshot, or let it disappear to save it automatically to your Photos app.

How to Screen Record

  1. Make sure Screen Recording is in your Control Center:
    • Go to Settings > Control Center.
    • Scroll down and tap the green + next to "Screen Recording."

      Open the Control Center:

    • On most iPhones, swipe down from the top-right corner.
    • On older iPhones, swipe up from the bottom.
  2. Tap the Record button (a circle inside a circle).
  3. A three-second countdown will begin, and the recording will start.
  4. To stop recording, open the Control Center again and tap the Record button, or tap the red bar at the top of your screen and select Stop.
  5. The recording will be saved in your Photos app.

For Android Devices

How to Take a Screenshot

  1. Locate the buttons on your device:
    • Press the Power button and the Volume Down button at the same time.
  2. Hold them for about one second until you see the screen flash.
  3. The screenshot will be saved to your device’s Gallery or Photos app.

How to Screen Record

  1. Check if your Android device has a built-in screen recorder:
    • Swipe down from the top of your screen to open the Quick Settings panel.

      Look for the Screen Record or Screen Recorder option. If it’s not visible, you may need to add it:

      • Tap the Edit (pencil) icon in the Quick Settings panel and drag the Screen Recorder to your active tiles.
  2. Tap Screen Record to start.
  3. You may be prompted to select what to record (e.g., audio or on-screen touches). Make your selection and tap Start.
  4. A countdown will begin, and the recording will start.
  5. To stop recording, swipe down to open the Quick Settings panel and tap Stop.
  6. The recording will be saved in your Gallery or Photos app.

For Devices Without a Built-In Recorder

If your device doesn’t have a built-in screen recorder, you can download a free app from the Google Play Store. Follow the app’s instructions to record your screen.
