How do I scan points (barcode/NFC) during my shift?
Scan required rooms or areas from a location's Scan Points tab with a posted barcode or NFC tag.
Use Scan Points to record that you visited required rooms or areas during a shift. Each successful scan records the scan point, the user, the time, and the phone's location.
Applies to: Cleaners who can open the location or job in MY JOBS. An administrator must set up each area as a required scan point first. Barcode scanning does not require a separate scan-points user module. The Tag option requires your company's Expert Tier subscription and a phone that supports NFC.
Before You Start
- Connect to the internet. Scan points are submitted when you scan them; do not rely on a failed scan being saved for later.
- Turn on location services and allow Clean Smarts to use your location. Both barcode and NFC scans record your phone's position.
- Allow camera access when you use Barcode.
- Turn on NFC when you use Tag.
- If your administrator recently changed the required points, tap MORE > Sync before opening the location.
The Scan Points tab lists only sublocations that an administrator marked Require Scan. Areas that do not require a scan are not included in the progress total.
Scan a Barcode
- Tap MY JOBS and make sure today's date is selected.
- Open the shift or location where you are working.
- Tap Scan Points in the top row of location tabs.
- Review the required areas and the progress count, such as 0/5 done.
- Tap Barcode.
- On the Scan Code screen, hold the posted barcode inside the frame. The app scans it automatically when the code is clear.
- Wait for Successfully scanned. The area's red empty circle changes to a green check and the progress count increases.
- Repeat for each required area.
The scan history may show the time and user below a completed point. If the point has an associated checklist, the app may ask whether you want to open it. Choose Yes to go to the checklist or No to stay on Scan Points.
Scan an NFC Tag
- Open today's shift or location from MY JOBS, then tap Scan Points.
- Tap Tag.
- When the phone is ready, hold it close to the NFC tag until the scan finishes.
- Wait for Successfully scanned and confirm that the area has a green check.
If you see This feature requires a subscription to our Expert Tier, your company's plan does not include NFC scan points. Use the posted barcode instead, or ask your supervisor which method to use. If you see NFC is currently unavailable. Please try again, confirm that the phone supports NFC and that NFC is turned on.
The Tag button inside Scan Points records an area visit. It is separate from using an NFC tag to check in or out of a shift.
If You Opened a Different Date
Scan points are recorded for today, even if you opened a past or future shift date.
If the app shows Do you want to scan anyway?, choose No, return to MY JOBS, select today's date, and reopen the shift or location. If you choose Yes, today's scan may appear temporarily in the other date's history.
Troubleshooting
The tab says No scan points. Ask your administrator to confirm that the correct sublocations have Require Scan turned on. Then update the app if needed, tap MORE > Sync, and reopen the location.
The camera does not open or the code will not scan. Allow camera access for Clean Smarts in your phone settings. Clean the camera lens, improve the lighting, and hold the complete code steady inside the frame.
You see Unable to find location with this barcode or Unable to get checklist with this barcode. The code is not recognized as a required scan point for the location you opened. Check that you are at the correct location and scanning the label for the listed area. If it still fails after Sync, ask your administrator to verify the code assigned to that sublocation.
You see a location-services message. Turn on location services and allow location access for Clean Smarts, then scan again.
The connection dropped or the point stayed red. Reconnect and scan the point again. Count it as complete only after you see Successfully scanned and the green check.
